The report is nearly ready, but a spend figure has changed and a revenue total needs updating. You also want the ratios to use formulas. Those small changes are a familiar part of working with spreadsheets. Our Alia demonstration shows a report taking shape, followed by a focused request to update an existing workbook.

A reporting example

We used fictional jewellery agency Lumen & Loop Studio and fictional client Aster Vale. The sample contains six campaigns, with channel, spend, clicks, leads, orders and attributed revenue. None of the figures represents real advertising performance. They give us a concrete reporting task to explain and check.

The first brief asked Alia for Campaigns, Budget and Notes tables, including cost per lead and return on advertising spend, or ROAS. Alia successfully exported a three-sheet Excel workbook. Separating media activity, production costs and explanatory notes gave the report a clear structure and made it easier to understand what each total covered.

Create a new Excel report

To create a similar report, provide the data in Founder/Business, name the columns and explain the calculations you want. State how totals and ratios should work. Review the answer, then select “Download this answer” and “Create file” to export the tables as XLSX. Ask for calculated numeric values in a new report: this export uses values, and formula expressions written in the answer remain text.

A focused follow-up

For the follow-up, we asked for 21 changes to existing cells. The request corrected one spend figure and one revenue figure, added formulas for the six campaigns' cost-per-lead and ROAS calculations, and added formulas to the totals. Alia completed those exact changes in a smaller Campaigns-only workbook, preserving the other 51 cells, existing styles and layout.

The smaller file was necessary because the original three-sheet workbook exceeded the current editing input limit. That attempt was rejected before a paid AI request and used no credits. Alia then generated the separate Campaigns-only file, whose 72 cells matched the original Campaigns sheet. The three-sheet report remains intact. The input limitation is unresolved, so this example demonstrates the successful one-sheet edit rather than a revision of all three sheets.

Check the formulas and totals

After recalculation, the sample totals are £2,120 in media spend and £10,050 in attributed revenue. Overall cost per lead is approximately £6.33 and ROAS approximately 4.74. The total ratios divide the relevant totals rather than averaging individual campaign ratios. ROAS describes attributed revenue relative to spend; it does not establish profit or prove what caused a sale.

Keep workbook changes specific

When requesting your own changes, identify the existing cells and describe the intended result. The current feature supports up to forty existing-cell changes per request, including supported ordinary formulas, while preserving styles. It does not provide arbitrary redesign, row or column restructuring, sheet restructuring or macro editing. Keep the original and inspect the downloaded revision before using it.

Alia writes supported formulas during workbook edits and requests recalculation when the file opens; it does not calculate those results itself. We checked the arithmetic independently and recalculated a separate copy in LibreOffice, without testing the delivered revision in Microsoft Excel.
